Greetings, Amplify Church! Thank you for your generous gift supporting the construction of two new classrooms in Eastern Uganda. These classrooms are expected to impact 1,000 children as they are blessed with a safe and comfortable space where they can learn, grow, and make new friends without distraction. By enabling their education, you are equipping them to succeed and help others in the future. We cannot thank you enough!
Background
Currently, some of the 250 children registered with UG0160 have faced barriers to their eduction. While church leadership has been able to construct three temporary classrooms out of mud, sticks and support rods, these classrooms have not been conducive to the best learning possible.
During the sunny months of January, February, July, and November, heavy winds blow dust into the classrooms, making the children more prone to eye infections, coughs, and flu. During the rainy months of April, May, June, and August, the classrooms grow damp, and children suffer fungal illnesses and allergic infections that have been costly to treat. This means that child support funds which could be used for developmental activities are having to be redirected to treat these preventable illnesses instead. When the weather is poor, nine classes of children must also fit into these three classrooms, making for a crowded learning environment.
The center reports that because of these challenges, it is more likely that the children lose motivation in attending center days, making the implementation of their curriculum less effective.

The child development center in Uganda you are supporting has a vision “to see all the children in their program thrive in all aspects of life by the time they graduate from the program.” You are a part of this vision!
The two new classrooms you are supporting will go a long way in not only facilitating effective curriculum delivery but also in supporting the health and safety of all registered children. Your gift is expected to impact 1,000 children over the years, including 250 who are currently registered.
The child development center aims to begin construction of classrooms as soon as possible with an official start date of January 30, 2021. You can expect to receive your final report on this project in February 2022.
To measure the success of this project, Compassion will assess the completion of a physical structure with two classrooms at UG0160, the number of children utilizing the new classroom blocks on center days, and the number of classes conducted concurrently using the two new blocks.
