Child-Focused, Church-Based and Christ-Centered
Our goal is to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. To accomplish this, Compassion works through thousands of church partners in 25 countries around the world. Each of these churches welcomes hundreds of children and provides them with a holistic child development program. The holistic development program focuses on these key areas:
Every year, Compassion partners with hundreds of new churches to reach thousands more children in need. We help develop children into all God intends them to be.
Ministry partners, like Aventura at Towne Centre, support the launch of new church partnerships. This gift equips each church with staff training, office equipment and classroom supplies to minister well to hundreds of children. Children enrolled with a church partner participate in weekly programming and benefit immediately from nutritious meals, fellowship with other children and a medical screening. In time, children connect with their own individual sponsor.
How Compassion is Responding to the Coronavirus Pandemic in Togo
Compassion centers have suspended programming, but Compassion’s partner churches continue to make regular home visits to monitor the health of children and families and pray with them. Staff members have been able to safely deliver 305,467 food packs and 243,701 hygiene kits to families, in addition to providing medical support to 33,732 individuals. Centers are evaluating education needs for the students who have been unable to attend school to best know how to support them. They are offering refresher courses for students who will be taking national exams and following up with youths who are in apprenticeships or vocational training. In some centers, mothers have been taught how to make masks, both for their families and to sell for income.*
