The following is a translated letter from a mother that benefits from this Child Survival Program.
Dear sponsor,
Greetings to you from our Child Survival Program!
My name is Champa, I am 21 years old. My husband’s name is Louis; he works as a day laborer. I live with my father-in-law, mother-in-law and three sister-in-laws, and husband.
I want to thank all the center staff members who are helping me to learn about childcare in the Child Survival Program (CSP) and how it is beneficial for me and my child to come. I give you hearty thanks for your love and support.
I live in a house which has tin sheet as its roof. It has one room and kitchen in my house. We didn’t have toilet facility in the house before but now we have received sanitary system through the local government. We now have a toilet outside our house.
I live in the village. Forty percent of the community people are Muslim. Majority of them are illiterate. But we live happily and peacefully here. There are many superstitions in which people believe strongly.
My husband works in a field. He earns 2,500 Indian rupees a month (equivalent to $37.42 USD). Our financial condition is not good, but because of this program, I have got an opportunity to learn new things.
I am 6 months pregnant. This is my first child. I have learned many things about child rearing after coming to the CSP center. I have learned about gender equality, child care, immunization, health and hygiene.
The project implementers teach me about the importance of immunizations which are a must for every baby as it helps them to withstand preventable diseases.
I hope that I may be able to provide good education to my child and admit my child to a good school. As my husband and I are uneducated, we want our child to get all good things in life. Through this Child Survival Program we receive good nutrition that I couldn’t have before.
I like coming to the center. The project implementers are good; they care and love us. When they come for home visit, they teach me what precautions to take while pregnancy period. Earlier I was very shy and couldn’t talk properly but now I have gained confidence to speak and socialize.
I thank you on behalf of my family. My life has changed for the better after joining the center. I thank God for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to be in this program which is positively impacting our life. Please pray for me and other mothers enrolled in our center. Thanking you.
Regards,
Champa
