The following is a translated letter from the pastor of the Mehal Dire Dawa Meserete Kirstoc Child Survival Program in Ethiopia.
To our friends at The Church at Brook Hills,
May God’s peace be with your spirit.
Since the establishment of the Child Survival Program under the Mehal Meserete Kristos Church by God’s good will, I rejoice that God has given us these 46 little children and their mothers who are complete blessings to the church.
Though the children do not tell us their feelings about the holistic ministry they are offered, we can speculate from the hearty joy that is expressed on their faces. Watching them play with their toys, running and jumping, makes you desire to have their same joy. Eating the balanced food prepared for them during their eating time in fellowship shows the impact it has brought in their spiritual and social lives, which cannot be expressed in words. It’s only when God visits and thinks of you that all these thing come to pass. If not, even if the sack and store room of the king have been laid, it would have been difficult at this time to do so.
Before this program, there were limited possibilities of medical treatment for these children, because their children could not afford to take them to a doctor. Thanks to the Lord, they now have the care they need because of the support of the Child Survival Program.
In general, for the children and their parents, the church has applied principles of Matthew 25:35-36 which says, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me…” These acts are beyond mere words, thanks God.
It has become a great blessing for the church seeing these children growing (like Jesus Christ and child Samuel) in height, wisdom and favor in God’s face.
May God bless you and your good ministry.
