The following is a translated letter from the pastor of the local church hosting EIC37 Child Survival Program.
Dear Family at The Church of Brook Hills,
Greetings to you!
I am Issac, local partner of the Child Survival Program (CSP) running here. I thank you for supporting our program because it enables us to serve the mothers and babies of our community and reach out to them with timely, life-saving interventions.
We are able to provide many benefits to the pregnant and lactating mothers through your generous support. We provide nutritious supplements, medical assistance and awareness on health, hygiene and family planning through this program.
The Child Survival Program is a milestone to our center’s growth and child welfare. Our work is divided into two categories, giving us a chance to learn and multiply our talents while doing our job. Our staffs have been trained skillfully by trainers from Compassion. We are implementing all the activities to achieve desired result. Through CSP, we can save lives of many babies. Most parents can’t provide healthy and nutritious supplements to their infants due to the financial burden. Mothers do not have the luxury of going for tests and check-ups prior to their delivery. After implementation of CSP, we have witnessed improvement in babies’ health.
We conduct programs and fun games at our center for the mothers who would otherwise not enjoy such things, due to their economic condition. We train them on income generating skills like pickle making, knitting, hand craft, and packaging. We provide learning opportunities to the mothers to help them become self-reliant and financially strong. We also give them exposure on postal services and banking operations so that they would learn about saving, money order and other services. Our main objective is to make the mothers independent so that they can develop themselves.
We make sure that mothers receive medical checkups every month. They receive hygiene supplies that help the mothers to maintain personal hygiene. These items include vitamins, nutritious supplements, medicines, and personal care items. We not only distribute but we also give assistance and counseling for health education. Our project implementers provide immediate assistance to the mothers whenever needed.
This program is life changing. It saves the lives of infants and transforms the lives of mothers. For community development, we have initiated programs like awareness programs on health and hygiene. We have conducted awareness campaigns on chronic illnesses such as HIV and AIDS, hepatitis, and typhoid. We have taken the initiative to clean our surroundings, plant trees and place dustbins in the community. By doing this, the mentality of the people have changed. At least people have become aware of basic hygiene practices and maintaining good health.
Once again I would like to thank you for supporting this noble program. Through your support we are enabled to work efficiently. We believe one day we can surely bring change in our community and in the life of every individual in the community. Thank you.
Regards,
Issac
