The following is a translated letter from a mother that benefits from this Child Survival Program.
Dear Sponsor,
Greetings to you on behalf of the mothers from our Child Survival Program!
My name is Chandani, and I am 21 years old. I am very proud to be a part of the Child Survival Program (CSP) family, and I’m so thankful to the program for transforming my life.
I live with my husband, Tallu, and two children. My daughter, Sabita, is enrolled with me in the program.
We live in a small house, and its construction was made possible with the help of a government welfare program. We live in a village. We do not have proper roads and there is no electricity. In our community we share a good bonding with the neighbors. They are helpful in nature despite the strong caste feelings that also coexist.
My husband is a driver; he transports goods on a rented tractor. He earns two hundred rupee [US equivalent of $3.02] per day, but there are days where he doesn’t find any work, and hence no earning. I work as a day laborer sometimes in order to support my husband to run the household.
My daughter Sabita is 2 1/2 years old. I love the way she smiles at strangers she comes across and she is comfortable going to everyone. It is my desire that my daughter studies in a good school and become a good citizen.
It has been almost a year and half that I am attending the CSP center. I am happy that I am in a program where my daughter is taken care of and I am learning things like good health practices and cleanliness about which I was uninformed before.
CSP is helping me in the good physical, social development of my child. The program has helped me economically and physically. CSP staff members are good to us. They teach us many things such as writing, reading, they also make us aware about new diseases and infections that we should be well informed in order to treat and ward off through proper precaution.
I’ve learned income generation skills that are now helping me run the household better. The project staff members are good and very concerned when it comes to our well being.
I am very thankful for your kind help and support as it has enabled me to be part of this CSP family. It helps me to learn new things in my daily life.
In closing, I request you to kindly pray for me, my daughter and our family. Also know that we remember you in our prayers, giving thanks to you for everything that your support has made available to us. May God bless you!
Regards,
Chandani
