Pastor Letter DRC20

June 30, 2017

The following is a translated letter from the pastor of the local church hosting DRC20 Child Survival Program.
Dear Sponsors,
May the grace and the peace of the Father our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be multiplied in your lives.
Hello, my name is Pastor Julio Antonio Inoa Gullón and I wish you many blessings in the name of Jesus. I live in La Esmeralda with my wife Olivia. Our community is peaceful and our neighbors are very friendly. I have been the Pastor of this church for 19 years, working in the community Tamboril all for the glory of God.
The program that we now have, we are able to help the most vulnerable mothers in the community. The first thing we do with each mother is to share the gospel with her. We believe this is the first step in changing their lives. We also provide monthly groceries to each family and show them how to prepare low cost food that is also very nutritious. We help mothers with medical expenses to combat any illnesses the mother or baby may have. We hold classes to help teach the caregivers about the different stages of development, how to prevent diseases, how to avoid domestic violence and the rights of each child.
Home visits are very important since they provide vital information to be able to maintain a healthy family. Monthly measurements of height and weight are taken for all the children and we also have an early stimulation area for the kids. This enables us to measure the growth and development for each of them so that the appropriate follow-up is given regarding proper feeding and hygiene. This allows us to detect any abnormalities in their growth and any needs of support or assistance they may have.
We also have group workshops where the mothers are provided with easy options to start their own home businesses. We also offer spiritual and psychological guidance when the mothers request it.
Our children have the best opportunity to develop and grow. My hope is that each of the mothers and children who we support are offered a wide range of opportunities they could not have obtained otherwise.
This program is very important as it allows us to share the gospel and it shows the love and mercy of God to our community. I am grateful to God and to Compassion for the progress that has been made in our community. The mothers in our program receive material goods, but also receive the knowledge needed in order to care for their children.
I want to thank you and ask that you pray for us. Please pray for the infant mortality rate to continue to drop as we try to educate the mothers in our community. Please pray that we may reach our goals, namely RELEASING CHILDREN FROM POVERTY IN JESUS’ NAME.
Sincerely,
Pastor Julio Antonio Inoa Grullón
