Partnership Facilitator Letters

The following are letters of gratitude from the Partnership Facilitators of your Sponsorship Launches in Ethiopia.

Dear Donors,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!

My name is Temesegn Tagesse, Partnership Facilitator at Butajira Hiwot Berhan Church Child Development Center (ET0727). Our center currently serves 219 children and is located in Butajira, Ethiopia. Ours is a struggling community where few families are able to provide enough food, education and healthcare for their children. Butajira Hiwot Berhan Church is one of a few local churches that have started working with Compassion in recent months.

Thank you for the generous gift that you provided earlier this fall. Your financial support is helping us launch a center that has a child-friendly environment and that provides basic facilities for Compassion’s holistic child and youth development programs. Your gift will help us provide:

• water and sanitation facilities
• healthcare supplies
• playground equipment
• classroom furniture
• educational materials
• minor facilities enhancements
• new doors and windows
• compound leveling of the center itself
• filing cabinets and shelves for the staff office
• indoor and outdoor games

Before the center opened, staff members from the Compassion Ethiopia office conducted vision-sharing training for the leaders and other relevant members of the church. These trainings communicated the value of children according to God’s Word, child and youth development skills training and child and youth ministry program standards, as well as other helpful skills. All staff members, leaders and volunteers at the center attended these trainings in October 2017.

Butajira Hiwot Berhan Church has provided two rooms for staff offices and four rooms for center activities. However, these rooms are neither well-constructed nor well-furnished. As mentioned above, your financial support will enable the church to perform minor construction and furnish the rooms, as well as provide other facilities necessary to create a child-friendly environment and undertake effective child and youth development programs. Butajira Hiwot Berhan Church is working to put these funds to good use: playground equipment has recently been purchased, for example.

Grace and peace be to you from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Before I say something about these centers, I would like to introduce myself. I am Alemu Derbie and I work for Compassion Ethiopia as a Partnership Facilitator. I currently oversee activities at 14 Implementing Church Partners across northern Ethiopia.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to express my deepest thanks on behalf of Kemissie Mulu Wongel Church Child Development Center (ET0494) and Kemissie Mekane Yesus Church Child Development Center (ET0589) for your generous gift to help launch both centers. The message that I have for you is from Hebrews 6:10, which reads, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

There are 228 children enrolled at Kemissie Mulu Wongel and 244 children enrolled at Kemissie Mekane Yesus. Through the work of both centers, these children, as well as their parents and siblings, now have an opportunity to hear the Gospel. Both centers are also helping these children:

• get educational materials
• cover school fees
• receive regular medical checkups
• get medical treatment when sick
• play indoor and outdoor games
• learn important life skills

Your gift will also provide these two centers with staff offices, minor building enhancements, administrative equipment and supplies, classroom furniture, educational materials and plumbing on site. Your gift is already making a great difference in the lives these children and it is also encouraging volunteers at both churches to continue in their mission.
