Church at Brook Hills, thank you for your generous support of vulnerable babies and mothers in Togo. Your gift to support Compassion’s Survival program at church partners in Togo is changing the lives of mothers and infants living in extreme poverty.
This update includes ministry progress at the Mawulolo Child Development Center, based at EEPT (Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Togo) Paroisse (TG0927) and the Bethel Child Development Center, based at EEPT Paroisse (TG0928). Mothers in these Survival programs have the comfort of knowing that they will receive comprehensive support as they navigate the first year of their baby’s life, with breastfeeding assistance, regular growth monitoring and supplemental food and vitamins. They even have the opportunity to learn a new skill so they can earn an income to help support their young family. Thank you for making all this possible.

Survival Activities at Mawulolo Child Development Center (TG0927)
Currently, 15 babies and their mothers are participating in the church’s Survival program. This church partner is located in a mountainous region of Togo with a population of 6,000 people. The average household income is equivalent to $16 per month. Adults commonly work as farmers, animal herders and traders.
Though there is a hospital in the area, families are often unable to afford care. Maternal and infant mortality rates are high. Babies do not have access to vaccinations, and children must often be left alone while their families go to work.

Babies Transition to Compassion’s Sponsorship Program at
Mawulolo Child Development Center (TG0927)
Thanks to your support, these babies have recently celebrated their first birthdays and transitioned to home-based care through Compassion’s Sponsorship Program. They will continue their growth with the guidance provided to them by the staff at Mawulolo Child Development Center (TG0927) and a loving sponsor.
Survival Activities at Bethel Child Development Center (TG0928)
Currently, 15 babies and their mothers are enrolled in the church’s Survival program. The church serves a rural community with 2,589 residents. Most families live on $41 per month, doing day labor, subsistence farming, animal herding and trading. Typical homes in the area are constructed with mud walls and grass roofs.
Malaria and a lack of access to medical care are challenges this community faces. Illiteracy rates are high and community members desire better education.
