Update on Your Support of Babies in Togo, Part 1

February 22, 2023

In the photo above, a mother and father from TG0132 hold their twin babies.

Church at Brook Hills, your continued support of mothers and their babies in Togo is transforming lives and paving the way to a brighter future. Because of your generosity, babies are beginning their lives as treasured members of the Compassion family. For many years to come, they will have the opportunity to benefit from a wide range of benefits, including access to medical care, educational support and regular nutritious meals. Compassion and its church partners are committed to caring for them right through childhood and adolescence, until they are ready to spread their wings as independent adults.

Likewise, the new mothers are starting down a road that leads to a better life. They are learning useful new skills, building supportive friendships with other mothers, and they are learning that Jesus’ unconditional love can transform their lives. Thanks to you, they are being empowered to create an environment where their beautiful baby will thrive.

This report includes updates on Survival activities at:

  • AD (TG0132)
  • Eglise des AD (TG0135)
  • Eglise des AD (TG0137)
  • Eglise Pentecote (TG0221)
  • Eglise Baptiste Evangelique (TG0524)

Currently, a total of 75 babies and their mothers are receiving care at these centers.

A Letter From Afi, a Caregiver at Eglise Baptiste Evangelique (TG0524)

Dear Friends,

My name is Afi, and my daughter’s name is Elisée. She is a participant in the Survival program at Eglise Baptiste Evengelique.

I am very grateful for everything the program is doing in our lives. It has given me and my daughter access to medical care, which is helping us to stay healthy. We have also received food and hygiene kits every month. These help our family tremendously in meeting our most urgent needs. This year, the church was also able to bring a permanent source of drinking water to our community, which is a huge blessing.

I am also thankful for the lessons I have learned from the program about how to take good care of my family. We have learned about God and his infinite love for people. We have also learned about how to deal with conflicts at home in a healthy way, and about child protection.

I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of making this program possible. It has benefitted my family greatly.

Sincerely,

Afi

Survival Spotlight: Spiritual Development

Compassion and its Frontline Church Partners are committed to making Christ the center of ministry efforts. Jesus is the core of our ministry, and his life and teachings shape our programs and reflect the spiritual commitments of our staff. They also guide how we love people, respect communities and cooperate with nations.

For Survival mothers, this crucial emphasis on spiritual development includes Bible study, prayer, hearing the gospel message, spiritual growth and discipleship, and opportunities to follow Jesus. During monthly home visits, the Survival Specialist encourages mothers and provides spiritual support and counseling as needed. In addition, mothers in the Survival program gather together to fellowship and worship, and often share the spiritual insights they have learned within their circles, influencing neighbors and, in turn, their community.
