Cedarbrook Community Church, thanks to your generosity, 15 babies and their caregivers are thriving in the Survival program at KAG Githungucu Child Development Center in central Kenya. In the Survival program, babies are known, loved and protected from the very beginning. They benefit from regular growth monitoring, checkups, immunizations and specialist care.
In this update, Elizabeth (shown above), shares how the Survival program at KAG Githungucu saved the life of her baby.
Impact of Your Gift
Since your last report, the mothers and babies at KAG Githungucu, have continued to benefit from comprehensive care, life-changing education and practical assistance that will improve babies’ health outcomes, encourage healthy brain development and support physical growth. The babies can look forward to a bright future as cherished members of the Compassion family, and the mothers can be confident that their infants will receive everything they need to grow strong and healthy.
We hope you are encouraged as you see the impact of your gift to mothers and babies living in the most difficult circumstances.

A Baby Receives Lifesaving Care
Dear Friends,
I joined the Survival program when I was pregnant with Yvonne, she is now healthy and eight months old. My husband works on a pig farm and we live in a small home on the farm. I take care of our home and family and also do small jobs to earn income. Survival staff make monthly home visits to monitor the growth of my baby and share information on breastfeeding and immunizations. I’ve learned to prepare balanced meals using inexpensive food and I’m growing vegetables to supplement our diet and generate income. Survival staff also shared the Word of God with me and my husband.
The greatest impact of the program was when my baby was admitted to the hospital and needed emergency surgery. Survival staff visited me in the hospital, encouraged me, prayed with us and also gave us diapers and fruit that I couldn’t afford. After five days in the hospital, my baby needed a second surgery. I was fearful, but the Survival staff faithfully encouraged us.
Thankfully, my baby was finally discharged a week after the second surgery. We couldn’t afford to pay for surgeries and the Survival staff took care of the bill. This really touched my husband who was feeling helpless, but hope was revived in him. I salute the project staff for their unending support, they have ministered to me in countless ways. May God abundantly bless the supporters who have made this program available to me and my fellow mothers!
Elizabeth
