A Message from a Caregiver at AIC Kanzinwa

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from me, my family, all Survival caregivers, and the staff at AIC Kanzinwa Child Development Center. My name is Jennifer, and I am the mother to Adasa. My child was recruited to the Survival program in June 2019, and I thank God for this rare opportunity because I have benefited from the program so much. I have received a lot of trainings which have impacted my life and the life of my child.

Before joining the Survival program, I never knew how to do hairdressing. After the center staff organized training for caregivers on different salon skills, I am now an expert and can support my child. Through the Survival program, I have learned the importance of taking my child to the clinic for growth monitoring, which has helped her to grow well.

Caregivers’ babies are usually very active when we visit the center for programming because they have a lot of toys to play with. They also provide us with toys to take home. I have been receiving nutritional supplements, and this has made Adasa healthy. Before joining the Survival program, I never knew anything about cancer awareness. But last month, the Survival staff organized cervical cancer screenings for all caregivers, and I thank God because now I know that I am cancer free.

I did not take my body hygiene seriously because I did not see it as a nuisance to my baby, but now after being taught about the importance of hygiene, it has always been my first priority. We have been introduced to Community Saving and Loaning (COSALO), and this has impacted my life because it has helped me earn a living to support my baby. I thank God for the opportunity to be in the Survival program, and I am sure it will have a great impact on Adasa as she grows up. I pray that the program will continue impacting other babies and families.

Thank you for your support, and may the almighty God bless you so much. I kindly ask that you continue praying for our Survival program and other programs at our center to continue transforming the lives of our babies and children. Lastly, I would like to share this Bible verse with you: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” – Jeremiah 29:11

Yours faithfully,

Jennifer
