Thriving with the Help of a Supportive Community
Hello my dear friends,
I am glad to greet you friends in Jesus’ mighty name. I am full of joy in expressing my gratitude to you for your care for me and my family. My name is Dorcas, and I am 26 years old. I live in a rural village. Life has not been easy during the COVID-19 pandemic. A lack of rain has resulted in a shortage of food, but we are living by the grace of our almighty Lord. I have been encouraged by the words of Matthew 6:31-32 that we should not be worried about food, drink, or clothes, because our father in heaven knows that we need these things. I am happy to know that I have a father who cares for my needs.
I have a 4-year-old daughter in preschool, and I am currently expecting another baby. We live in a small, traditional house with one room, and we cook our food outside under a tree. I have loving and friendly neighbors who are always merciful and supportive. I really love them, and they are always good to me and my family. I keep some chickens and three goats, and I also take care of my small garden. Due to the lack of rain, I have had little harvest this year. My husband is not employed, but he looks for casual jobs within the village to earn a living for our family. Times have been hard during the pandemic.
My unborn baby is doing good in the womb, and I have been praying that all goes well. I go to a prenatal clinic for checkups, and I am in good heath. I am so grateful to have the Survival program in my village. It has been so helpful to me and my family, especially in my spiritual growth. I enjoy the training offered, and I am fully equipped with knowledge in soap making, cake baking, and salon and beauty skills.
I am so thankful and appreciate all the staff who have been so friendly, caring, and kind to me. May God bless them. They are very devoted to visiting us in our homes, even during this hard time of COVID-19. The staff come full of encouragement on spiritual matters, and they provide counseling on family issues and marriage, which has resulted in me having a happy and healthy family. They are also loving and kind in facilitating group activities at the center. They are good role models, and I really enjoy doing activities with them.
Thank you for your kind love and support towards me and my family. God bless you so much, friends. I humbly request that you please pray for my family to have good health and unity in serving our Lord. I also request your prayers that I would have a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery.
Your loving friend,
Dorcas
