A Letter from a Caregiver You Support

Dear Supporters,

Greetings from Kenya! My name is Truphosa, and Salome is my daughter. My baby and I were enrolled in the Survival program at ACK St. Paul’s Wandeche Child Development Center in February 2021. Since then, my life has really improved. Before I joined the program, I was a mother without a clear direction in life and didn’t know how to care for my family. After I joined Survival, I started receiving guidance from the center staff during group and home visit lessons. I have now gained good parenting and child care skills.

At the center, we are empowered through trainings on income-generating skills. These lessons helped me start poultry rearing when I received some financial assistance from the center. Right now, I have 70 hens. I am able to sell some and and use some for family consumption. I’m happy because my family can get protein from the eggs, too. My prayer is that my daughter will develop in a healthy manner, my poultry project will expand, and that I may breed more chicks for selling to increase my income.

Also, I am in a tailoring class, and I will be doing my national exams soon. Please pray that God’s favor may be upon my daughter as she grows. Please also pray that I could acquire my own tailoring machine so that I can start a business of making school uniforms for the community.

God bless you for the support I receive through the Survival program. May God also bless you and your family always and meet all of your needs!

Yours faithfully,
Truphosa

Survival mothers also learned about hairdressing. There are currently five mothers from St. Paul’s Wandeche Church operating a small hairdressing business out of their homes.
