We’re pleased to bring you an update on the impact of your gift to launch a Compassion center at ADEPR Bwisige in northern Rwanda. Classes are well underway and children are participating in a variety of development activities.
Ministry Progress at ADEPR Bwisige
Thanks to your support, staff have enrolled 200 children in the child development center and 121 children are sponsored. Educational assessments are complete and children are participating in a range of classes and activities. Staff report that the opening of the Compassion center has a positive impact on the church’s ministry in the community.
Compassion’s Sponsorship Program Provides Holistic Care
Compassion’s child development program is comprehensive and addresses the whole child including:
- Physical Health: food and supplements to prevent malnutrition, access to medical care and special services and health and hygiene training.
- Spiritual and Social Growth: spiritual development through a local church, protection from abuse and danger, and recreational activities to build self-confidence.
- Cognitive Skills: early childhood enrichment activities, school supplies and tutoring, mentoring and vocational training.

A Message From Pastor Joseph
Dear Friends,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our church has much joy because of the love you demonstrated through your gift. Your support allows the participants to study and receive medical care. We are confident that their lives will change and their families will be released from poverty in the name of Jesus.
The child development center has started with 200 children; 83 boys and 117 girls. Of these children, 195 are in elementary school and five children are in primary school. All of them are from families experiencing poverty, and we see changes beginning in the children and in their families.
All participants received school supplies and uniforms, and their school fees are paid. All of them are now covered by health insurance and they are receiving medical treatment when needed.
The parents are participating in small groups to initiate income-generating activities. They are also learning about healthy communication and conflict resolution. We are also happy to inform you that the church is receiving safe water through a Compassion intervention. Our church, the local government and the entire community are happy with the changes that are coming to us through the Compassion partnership. We are sure that the lives of the children and their families will change, and the love you have shown us is a sign that God has a great plan for our community.
