A Letter From a Caregiver at Corderitos de Jesús Student Center
Dear Friends,
I greet you with the hope that Almighty God is pouring blessings into your life. My name is María. I am 26 years old and am the mother of a baby girl named Anyeli. I joined the Corderitos de Jesús Survival program when I was seven months pregnant. The program has been a much-needed help providing me with medical checkups, medication, a baby shower, a basket of groceries, a newborn care kit, a mosquito net, and a Bible. Survival has also provided me with opportunities to socialize with other mothers via birthday and Mother’s Day celebrations. I enjoy meeting with other mothers, attending Bible study classes, and am very appreciative for the grocery basket. The Survival program has helped my baby and I grow emotionally, physically, cognitively, and spiritually.
The birth of my daughter was the best gift God has given me. She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. Since her birth, I have enjoyed watching her grow each and every day. From the beginning, Anyeli has advanced in many areas including memory development, depth perception, spatial reasoning and motor skill development. At eight months, she started crawling, at nine months she started sitting by herself, and now she’s learning how to walk.
Thank you for all that you are doing in the lives of our babies. I hope God continues to bless you greatly, and I ask that you pray that my daughter may have good health every day of her life and that the Lord would provide for all of her needs. Also, please pray that the Lord would give my husband strength and perseverance as we move towards God.
Blessings,
María and Anyeli
Recent Survival Activities
Caregivers attended a birthday party held at the church facility. The party allowed caregivers to socialize and build relationships with one another. Since many in the area do not have the resources to put on a celebration like this, everyone appreciated and enjoyed it greatly.
Families participated in a retreat at Aquatic Cave for a day of recreation and fellowship. The purpose of the retreat was so fathers and their babies could spend more time together and bond. Everyone enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun.
One of the courses in the Survival program is on nutrition and safe food preparation. Caregivers learned different preparation techniques to prevent foodborne illnesses, and learned about balanced nutrition.
Babies Move From Surviving to Thriving Because of Your Support
Thanks to your support, these babies have recently reached their first birthdays and transitioned to home-based care through Compassion’s Sponsorship Program. They will continue their growth with the guidance provided to them from the staff at the Corderitos de Jesús Student Center and a loving sponsor.
