Northbrook Church, your great generosity is helping babies to survive the crucial first 12 months, when their lives are the greatest risk and they are most vulnerable to illness and hunger. At Corderitos de Jesús Student Center, based at Iglesia Mision Cristiana Elim in Morazan, El Salvador, your support is providing proper nutrition, access to medical care and a broad range of life-saving neo- and postnatal supports for both infants and their mothers. You are ensuring babies born into crippling poverty have the opportunity to thrive, setting them on the path to a healthy, happy childhood.
Currently, 15 mother and baby pairs are enrolled in the Survival initiatives you support. The mothers have the comfort of knowing that they will receive comprehensive support as they navigate the first year of their baby’s life, with breastfeeding assistance, regular growth monitoring and supplemental food and vitamins. They even have the opportunity to learn a new skill so they can earn an income to help support their young family. Thank you for making all this possible.

A Letter From Ruth, a Caregiver at Corderitos de Jesús Student Center
God bless you, beloved sponsor! I hope you and your family are well. My name is Ruth. I want to tell you that I am very thankful for the support you provide. It is a great blessing to every baby in the Survival program.
My daughter’s name is Julissa. She is a very smiley and loving girl. When Julissa was born, I felt happy to meet her, touch her and feel her delicate skin. Since then, I have been filled with joy to see her grow day after day. Through child development exercises, Julissa is developing a sense of space, her fine and gross motor skills and her reasoning. She can sit by herself, crawl and is already learning to walk.
The Survival program is a great blessing because it provides useful care to me and my daughter. I joined the program when Julissa was one month old, and at that time, I received medical checkups, laboratory exams, medication, food packages, a mosquito net, a Bible and a birthday celebration. During the pandemic, the program continued to be a great help. I received a hygiene kit with hand sanitizer, liquid soap, toilet paper, bleach, shampoo and face masks.
Thank you so much for being part of this program. I hope God continues to pour many blessings upon you and that He keeps you healthy. I ask that you please pray for God to give me wisdom as I instruct my daughter in a way that leads her to God. I also ask that you please pray for God to keep my entire family healthy.
Sincerely,
Ruth

Survival Program Spotlight: Income Generation and Education
Parents, especially mothers, are critical to effective intervention on behalf of vulnerable babies and young children. Educating primary caregivers sets those little ones on a path toward healthy development — which is why the Survival program incorporates a holistic, long-term strategy into its approach. That strategy is designed to equip mothers to care for their families and themselves, and engage their community, with a healthy, biblical perspective. The program helps these women develop their minds through literacy lessons. It teaches them critical parenting and child development skills, as well as how to implement them when children are most vulnerable to disease and malnutrition. It also equips them to provide for their families through contextually relevant occupational training that enables them to generate income. The discovery of newfound talents and capabilities builds their self-esteem, helping them grow into confident women who now have the knowledge and capacity to move forward in life. It paves the way for them become the people God intended them to be.
Thank You for Your Support
Thank you for making a difference in El Salvador. Mothers and babies have a hopeful future because of you. May God bless you abundantly.
