The following is a letter from Pastor Mauricio Ernesto Solano explaining recent activities at the Shama Kids Child Development Center.
Dear Donors,
I wish you well in all areas of your lives. My name is Mauricio Ernesto Solano and I am the pastor of the project you support. I want to express my most sincere gratitude for your generosity and for choosing us to benefit from your gift.
Your support has been vital in starting our Child Development Center. We have been able to purchase all the office supplies we have needed as well as kitchen supplies to prepare food for the children. Your gift also helped provide tables for our classrooms. Now children have their own space to learn and paint.
Our hope is that through our program, each child will come to know Christ. As we have started our program we have chosen to focus on the physical and spiritual growth of each child. This year, as we grow, we will work to expand to include socio-emotional and cognitive growth as well.
We can see that our project is making a difference. The lessons that children learn here have been making a difference for their families as well. We have also received reports from the schools that the children who attend our program have been excelling in their schoolwork.
We are working to teach our children healthy habits, how to avoid getting sick and to always care for their bodies through hygiene and good nutrition. All of this is taught through community campaigns, sports we play with the children, home visits, medical check-ups, community events and birthday celebrations. We take each of these opportunities to pour into the children in our program. We have been able to provide them with food baskets, notebooks, backpacks, lunch boxes and medication when they get sick.
The next step we would like to take is to offer vocational workshops for families so they can better provide for their children. We are also looking forward to the possibility of purchasing the large lot of land behind the church. This would allow us to build more classrooms and help more children. These classrooms would also help us fulfill our goal of training the caregivers of our children.
None of this would be possible without your gift. We cannot express our gratitude enough and we declare a great blessing over your lives.
Sincerely,
Mauricio Ernesto Solano
